Cold Snap Arrives: December Update 1.7.0

Winter hits the Rust Belt. Frigid winds carve through the valleys of Blue Gate. Blizzards sweep across the abandoned spaceport while the Red Lakes freeze and crack. Raiders topside battle on as they shiver and stumble and swear. The December Update 1.7.0 brings massive changes including the new Cold Snap map condition, Flickering Flames event, a free Goalie Raider Deck, and extensive balance changes.

❄️ Cold Snap Map Condition

The freezing weather will cut your Raider down in minutes unless you get indoors or heal up quickly. Your feet will be unsteady over frozen water, your vision will be compromised, and frostbite is a real danger. Getting pinned down in the open is a death sentence during a Rust Belt winter.

🔥 Flickering Flames Event

Help Speranzans through the winter by collecting Candleberries for banquets and important items for survival. Runs from December 16th until January 13th. Earn Raider Tokens, new items, rare utility items, weapons, cosmetics, and Merits.

🥅 New Free Raider Deck "Goalie"

Available from December 26th, unlock items, Raider Tokens, and cosmetics as you earn Cred topside. Features a unique hockey-themed outfit and hockey stick Raider Tool.

🚪 Locked Gate Event Timer

The new Locked Gate map condition has been added to Blue Gate, giving Raiders a new objective to race against the clock.

New system for managing expedition timing and preparation.

⚡ Patch Highlights

  • Added Skill Tree Reset functionality - 2,000 Coins per skill point
  • Added an option to toggle Aim Down Sights
  • Wallet now shows your Cred soft cap (800 Cred maximum)

  • Moved the Aphelion blueprint drop from the Matriarch to Stella Montis

⚖️ Balance Changes

Weapons

Bettina BUFFED

Dev note: These changes aim to make the Bettina a bit less reliant on bringing a secondary weapon. The weapon should now be a bit more competent in PVP, without tipping the scales too much. Data shows that this weapon is still the highest performing PVE weapon at its rarity (Not counting the Hullcracker). The durability should also feel more in line with our other assault rifles.

  • Durability Burn Rate reduced from ~0.43% to ~0.17% per shot
    • Now takes 26 full magazines to deplete (up from 12)
  • Magazine Size increased from 20 to 22
  • Reload Time reduced from 5 to 4.5 seconds

Rattler BUFFED

Dev note: Even though the Rattler isn't intended to compete with the Stitcher or Kettle at close ranges, it is receiving a minor buff to bring its PVP TTK at lower levels a bit closer to the Stitcher and Kettle. The weapon should remain in its intended role as a more deliberate weapon where players are expected to dip in and out of cover, fire in controlled bursts, and manage their reloads.

  • Magazine Size increased from 10 to 12

ARC Enemies

Shredder IMPROVED

  • Reduced knockback from weapons, increased movement speed and turning responsiveness
  • Increased head health to prevent unintended behavior from head destruction
  • Improved navigation to reduce getting stuck on corners and obstacles
  • Faster combat engagement when taking damage or near players
  • Increased number of destructible parts

  • Achievements are now enabled in the Epic store

Animation

  • Fixed Field Crate pickup with Trigger 'Nade causing character slide
  • Fixed Snap Hook momentum exploit with ziplines/ladders
  • Fixed running animation issues when over-encumbered after drops
  • Interactions now end correctly during dodge rolls
  • Fixed arm twisting when interacting with items/deployables
  • Added more natural animations to character skins and equipment

ARC Enemies

  • Fixed deployables causing enemies to launch or clip out of bounds
  • Missiles now track correctly at different elevations
  • Sentinel: Fixed laser not reaching targeted players at distance
  • Surveyor: Disabled vaulting to prevent unintended launches
  • Fixed Bombardier projectiles shooting through Matriarch shield

Audio

  • Fixed mine trigger sounds and light indicators
  • Increased simultaneous footstep sounds and their priority
  • Fixed quiet metal stair footsteps when walking slowly
  • Improved directional sound for ARC enemies
  • Added text chat message sounds in main menu
  • Removed the unsettling "mom?" from Speranza cantina ambient sound
  • Tweaked announcement loudness in various menus

Maps

  • Fixed reconnection spawning logic
  • Various collision, geometry, VFX and texture fixes
  • Fixed Raider Hatch slope being too steep for downed raiders
  • Security Lockers now dynamically spawned across all maps
  • Fixed Raider Caches not spawning during Prospecting Probes
  • Fixed lootable containers spawning inside terrain
  • Fixed doors appearing closed despite being open
  • Electromagnetic Storm: Lightning strikes now sometimes leave valuable items
  • Increased Great Mullein spawn locations across all maps

Dam Battlegrounds

  • Moved Matriarch spawn point to better tactical location

Spaceport

  • Adjusted locked room protection area in Container Storage

Blue Gate

  • Locked Gate map condition added NEW
  • Adjusted map bounds near ledges for better navigation
  • Improved tree LODs to reduce overly dark visuals at distance
  • Fixed loot spawning outside Locked Room in Village
  • Added visual cues to 'A First Foothold' quest locations

Stella Montis

  • Increased item and blueprint spawn rates
  • Some containers no longer drop Rubber Ducks with A Little Extra skill (sorry)
  • Adjusted window glass clarity for better visibility

Miscellaneous

  • General crash fixes including AMD crashes
  • Cred soft cap of 800 implemented - existing Cred not removed
  • Fixed gear loss bug when spawning on servers
  • Leaderboards now have 3x promotion zone for top 5 players (Daredevil I and below)

⚠️ Known Issues

  • AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT users will see driver warning popup despite being on latest version
  • Items that don't fit in stash have value excluded from departure screen (but included in actual rewards)
