Frozen Trail First Look — September 23
Embark is streaming a First Look at Frozen Trail tomorrow, September 23 at 10am PDT (7pm CEST). The patch notes call it an extended peek at their biggest update yet, and say there is more planned between now and the October 8 launch.
"Can't wait to hear what you think! We've got more planned ahead of October 8th, stay tuned."
This is the stream to watch if you have been waiting for concrete answers on the new map, the Outpost, and the Raider Deck replacement. Everything we know so far is in our Frozen Trail breakdown and the development update; expect this First Look to confirm or overwrite a lot of it. We will update those articles once the stream airs.
One thing to plan around now: with Season 5 over, Weekly Trials are paused until Season 6 starts with Frozen Trail on October 8. Our trials page shows the countdown, and the first Season 6 set will be up there as soon as it goes live.
Riposta Set: Camo & White Variants
The store side of this update is two new colourways for the Riposta Set: a Camo variant and a White variant. Embark did not publish a bundle breakdown in the notes, so check the in-game store for exact contents and pricing.
A Quick Update on Fair Play
While most of the studio is finishing Frozen Trail, the anti-cheat team posted a progress note on the Fair Play initiative. The short version: several ban waves have already hit accounts flagged for bot-like behaviour in the economy, high-value item transfers are still being sanctioned, and item duplication is trending the right way after this summer's fixes. Detection is being widened to cover things like XP farming next.
The bigger policy change is aimed at repeat offenders. Embark is tightening how shared licences are restricted once an account is sanctioned, which should make it harder for a banned cheater to simply buy another copy and come back. They are also tracking behaviour before and after a sanction to act faster next time.
"We have been improving our detection systems and we are extending first-strike permanent bans."
Two things stand out. First, licence-level restrictions are the part that actually hurts serial cheaters — account bans alone were never the bottleneck. Second, "extending first-strike permanent bans" plus "very high degree of confidence" is Embark telling you the detection has matured enough that they no longer feel the need to warn first. Keep reporting; the note explicitly credits player reports for part of this.
Claim Your Rubber Ducks Before October 8
These are the three Discord-voted designs that arrived in 1.45.0. They sit in Bird City and can be displayed in your Raider Den. If you have not logged in since then, the claim is in your inbox.
Expedition 5: Departure Closes September 29
The departure window for Expedition 5 closes on September 29 at 10am CEST (8am UTC / 1am PT). There is no Last Call this time, so finish the project and sign up before the cutoff. If the Departure screen will not let you confirm, Embark asks you to contact support as soon as possible rather than wait it out.
This patch also makes the Expedition Project button show when an Expedition is paused after the cutoff date and blocks you from committing resources to it — so you will not accidentally feed materials into a project that can no longer depart.
Full Expedition 5 breakdown
Window, rewards, consecutive buffs, and why this is the last Expedition until 2027 are in our Expedition 5 article. Completing the Caravan still does not count as signing up.
Content & Bug Fixes
Cosmetic
- Fixed the Rawhide outfit's headgear staying on when toggled off in Customization
Gameplay
- Door blockers no longer spawn a duplicate mesh on the opposite side of the door
- Fixed keyboard input stopping after launching unfocused or returning from the background
- Fixed doors going out of sync — appearing open while actually being closed
- Fixed swapping or splitting items placing them into incompatible containers (such as non-quick-use items forced into the belt), with new safeguards against invalid inventory slot indexing
The door desync is the one worth celebrating. If you have ever watched a squadmate walk through a "closed" door, or been shot through a door that looked open on your screen, that was this bug. The keyboard-input fix also closes out a known issue that had been sitting on the list for Epic users since at least 1.45.0.
Maps
- Buried City — fixed lighting that could appear overly dark or missing
- Riven Tides — fixed visual issues while traversing the map
- General — fixed world objects showing the wrong colours; red lockers, toolboxes, office chairs, cars, chests and shipping containers look right again
Performance
- Inventory tooltips no longer keep data from previous screens — this was growing memory use over long sessions and hurting stability
Stability
- Improved crash detection and diagnostics tools
- Fixed a rare crash during server shutdown
- Fixed an Xbox issue that could cause resource conflicts
- PS5 — addressed a frequent physics-engine crash
- Improved stability when opening the Inventory screen
UI
- Expedition — the Project button shows when an Expedition is paused after the cutoff and prevents committing resources
- Skill Tree — skill point assignment is now hold-to-assign by default
Hold-to-assign is a small change that will save a lot of misclicked skill points, especially on controller. If you are planning a build for Frozen Trail's skill tree changes, this makes respec sessions less punishing.
Known Issues
Still on the board after 1.47.0:
- Multiple stability improvements are being deployed for Xbox Series X|S crashes — report anything that persists
- Quick Wheel improvements are in the works to stop inaccurate switching or "jumping" between item slots
- Weapon-swap animation can look broken if you swap right after vaulting
- Player animations can break if you interrupt a Baron Husk search
- Shredders float to the ceiling in some Hidden Bunker rooms; Leapers can jump through the ARC Turbine
- Shots taken while riding ARC may not register
- Characters may stutter or jitter after being revived
- The Matriarch may occasionally not use all of its ranged attacks
- Footsteps go silent while constantly shoulder-swapping during a sprint
- Players can get stuck on obstacles while sliding downhill
- Non-US-English keyboard layouts reset custom keybindings after every raid
- Long text lists can sometimes disappear when scrolled
This week's to-do list is short: watch the First Look on September 23, sign up for Expedition 5 departure before September 29, and claim the ducks. Then it is a straight run to October 8 — our Frozen Trail breakdown has everything confirmed so far.
See you Topside, Raiders.
