Live Update 1.36.0: THE FINALS Crossover, New Matchmaking & ARC Turbine Buff

Your tentative alliance with the Nomads keeps deepening — and so does the ARC presence Topside. Live Update 1.36.0 is out now, headlined by separate Solo, Duo, and Trio matchmaking, a crossover with the virtual gameshow world of THE FINALS, and a long-awaited buff to ARC Turbine loot. It also opens the door to Expedition 4 and Trials Season 5, plus a store redesign and a batch of QoL fixes. Here's the full breakdown.

What's New in 1.36.0

Headline Additions

  • Expedition 4 — Zenith Outfit reward
  • Trials Season 5 — Scorta Outfit reward
  • Solo, Duo, and Trio Matchmaking tracked separately
  • ARC Raiders & THE FINALS Crossover — Azimuth outfit & Archeologist backpack
  • Store Update — The Triumph Set
  • Store Redesign

Solo, Duo, and Trio Matchmaking

Following feedback from the Matchmaking survey published in May, Embark has shipped one of the most-requested features: your playstyle is now tracked separately for Solo, Duo, and Trio rounds, and you're matched accordingly.

Previously, the three squad sizes shared a single playstyle profile. Being a friendly solo player could push you into more cooperative trio rounds, and playing PvP-focused in a trio could drag your solo matches toward PvP — so switching squad size meant matchmaking took a while to readjust.

What Changes for You

  • No more overlap between squad sizes — each is tracked on its own
  • Go from friendly questing and plant-picking in Solo to adrenaline-fueled PvP in Trio just by changing squad size
  • Matchmaking no longer needs to "catch up" when you swap between Solo, Duo, and Trio

Expedition 4, Trials Season 5 & The Store

1.36.0 also lines up with two of the season's biggest content beats. Expedition 4 swaps Skill Points for Mystery Rewards, handing out Blueprints and Raider Tokens for dealing damage, and adds the Zenith Outfit — see our full Expedition 4 breakdown. Trials Season 5 introduces weapon-specific ARC damage challenges and the Scorta heavy-armor reward — covered in our Trials Season 5 guide.

On the cosmetics front, the store adds The Triumph Set and receives a full redesign.

ARC Turbine Loot Buff

The standout gameplay change this patch: Embark has significantly increased the value of loot dropped by ARC Turbines, addressing long-running feedback that the reward didn't match the effort of taking one down.

"We've heard your feedback that the ARC Turbine's loot was too low compared to the high effort required to take one down and we agree. That's why we've decided to significantly increase the amount of loot from the ARC Turbine. Happy hunting!"

  • Fixed an issue where the ARC Turbine would sometimes disappear right after spawning in
  • Knockback from Queen & Matriarch stomps will no longer go through walls

Content & Bug Fixes

Cosmetic

  • Fixed a clipping issue for the Marco Outfit
  • Fixed an issue where the Bog Walker Set was missing new colour variants
  • Refunds for extra Raider Tokens paid to unlock the new Bog Walker colours will be issued automatically over the coming days — no action needed

Items

  • Weapons dropped on the ground now display their installed mods
  • ARC Turbine parts will no longer drop from Couriers
  • Higher-value items now show up on the Raider Den shelf even when large stacks of lower-value items add up to more total value

Maps

  • Fixed various spots where players could get stuck or clip through the terrain
  • Fixed several locations where players fell through the terrain on The Dam close to spawn bunkers

Quests

  • Fixed the Quests tab looping back to the 'Done' screen after claiming a reward and pressing ESC, which prevented selecting a new quest

Social

  • The Emote Wheel now updates availability while open, making it clearer when an emote can be used

UI

  • Fixed some German localization issues
  • Improved the Feeding Rewards section in the Scrappy Nest — removed the empty placeholder tile and clarified messaging when no rewards are available or still pending
  • Fixed the HUD visibility option not applying correctly at the start of a round
  • Fixed the Show/Hide Tooltip controller option in the Logbook breaking after collapsing and expanding a quest entry

Maintaining Fair Play

Anti-Cheat & Detection

Embark has completed the rollout of Denuvo Anti-Cheat — it's now enforced for all players, with promising early results. The anti-cheat team continues to refine the stack (hardware & software detection, ML-driven input telemetry analysis and more) to get more effective at identifying and acting against cheaters.

Handling & Preventing Item Duplication

The team is keeping a close eye on the game economy, cataloguing and counteracting duplication exploits. Several exploits related to duplication were recently fixed, with progress monitored before sharing results.

Evolving "No Free Loadouts"

The experimental No Free Loadout requirement introduced in 1.33.0 for Night Raid and Close Scrutiny is being reviewed against player feedback. Embark is looking into expanding it to more map conditions and exploring other ways to improve the experience.

Action Notice

  • You now receive an in-game notice when action is taken against someone you reported

Loot Compensation

  • Loot lost to cheaters continues to be compensated — whether or not you reported them

Known Issues

A few known issues to be aware of after 1.36.0:

  • Some PC players may experience lower FPS than usual — update GPU drivers or try rolling back a version
  • Investigating crashes affecting some Xbox players (particularly Series S)
  • Quick Wheel item selection may swap to another item when closing and quickly reopening the wheel
  • The Dolabra, Hullcracker, and Rascal don't damage training dummies on the Practice Range
  • Throw animation may fail when detonating a Trigger 'Nade immediately after throwing it
  • Weapon swap animation may look broken right after vaulting
  • Shredders float to the ceiling in some Hidden Bunker rooms; Leapers can jump through the ARC Turbine
  • Shots taken while riding ARC may not register correctly
  • Aware of clipping issues with the Triumph and Azimuth outfits

See you Topside, Raiders.
