How to Get the Rascal Blueprint in ARC Raiders

The Rascal is a compact grenade launcher added in Patch 1.29.0 — a lighter, cheaper alternative to the Hullcracker for dealing with armored ARC threats. Unlike the Dolabra and Canto, it doesn't have a fixed spawn location. Here's where to find it and what you need to craft it.

Quick Summary

  • Rarity: Rare (Blue)
  • Type: Grenade Launcher — lightweight anti-ARC sidearm (4 lbs)
  • Found in: Security Breach cabinets, locked key rooms, Hurricane caches, Beachcombing, weapon crates, raider caches
  • Blueprint craft cost: 2x Advanced Mechanical Components, 3x Heavy Gun Parts, 5x Canister
  • Sell price: $17,000
  • Trader: Not sold by Tian Wen. May appear in Nomadic Envoy's weekly rotation
  • Key advantage over Hullcracker: Can be found in loot — Hullcracker is craft/buy only

Where to Find the Rascal

The Rascal is a rare (blue) quality weapon, which means it can spawn in any loot source that drops blue-tier gear. There's no single fixed location — you'll need to hit the high-value loot spots and get a bit lucky. Here are the best places to farm for it:

1. Locked Key Rooms

Key rooms received a loot buff recently and are now one of the most reliable sources of rare weapons. Grab a key from ARC drops or containers and head to the corresponding locked room. These rooms consistently spawn blue-tier weapons and above, making them your best bet for the Rascal.

2. Security Breach Cabinets

If you have the Security Breach skill unlocked, these locked cabinets are where the community is finding the most blueprints. Confirmed blueprint drops from Security Breach cabinets on:

  • Buried City — train station area
  • Riven Tides — near spawn points (daytime confirmed)

Riven Tides has the fewest cabinets, but Dam Battlegrounds and Buried City have significantly more. This appears to be the single most reliable method based on early community reports.

3. Beachcombing on Riven Tides

If you have the Dockmaster's Detector, the buried loot on Riven Tides beaches can drop the Rascal. You can combine Beachcombing with Security Breach cabinets for an efficient farming run — especially in friendly lobbies where you can sweep the coast without interruption.

4. Hurricane First Wave Caches

During the Hurricane map condition, First Wave Caches surface across all maps (except Riven Tides for now). Theycan drop rare weapons blueprints (like tempest, Volcano, Canto, etc) — making them a solid source for the Rascal blueprint. Community players have confirmed that Hurricane makes all weapon blueprints droppable from these caches (including normally restricted ones like Bobcat and Tempest), so the Rascal blueprint is definitely in the loot pool. Check our First Wave Caches location guide for all confirmed spawn spots.

5. Weapon Crates

Weapon crates in ARC Raiders that can drop the Rascal

The weapon crates found across all maps regularly spawn blue-tier weapons. They're common, easy to spot, and don't require any special tools or skills to open. Community-confirmed spots include parking garages, military camps, industrial buildings, and grenade tubes (the cylindrical weapon holders). One player found the blueprint in a grenade tube in the Riven Tides tower near Customs House during Night Raid.

6. Nomadic Envoy Trader

The new Nomadic Envoy Ermal sells blueprints on a weekly rotation. The Rascal blueprint may appear in his stock over time, so check back each week. Note: Tian Wen does not sell the Rascal despite what the patch notes flavor text implies — it's loot-only or potentially through the Envoy's future rotations.

Boost Your Drop Chances

Certain map conditions increase loot quality across the board:

  • Night Raid — increased loot value modifier means higher chances of rare drops
  • Hurricane — same loot value boost plus First Wave Caches with all blueprints in the loot pool
  • Lush Blooms — players have found the Rascal in raider caches during this condition on Dam

Running Riven Tides during either Night Raid or Hurricane while hitting Security Breach cabinets and Beachcombing gives you the best odds of finding the Rascal or its blueprint in a single session.

Community-Confirmed Drop Locations

Based on day-one player reports, the Rascal and its blueprint have been found on:

  • Buried City — Security Breach cabinet at train station; space travel building
  • Riven Tides — Security Breach cabinets; blue cooler on the beach; hotel blue suitcase (night); grenade tube in tower near Customs House (Night Raid)
  • Dam Battlegrounds — ammo caches; key rooms; raider caches (Lush Blooms)
  • Stella Montis — Assembly area (day raid)

The blueprint appears to be in the general blue-tier loot pool across all maps and most container types — it's not locked to any specific map or condition.

Crafting the Rascal

Once you have the blueprint, crafting the Rascal requires:

Crafting Recipe

  • 2x Advanced Mechanical Components
  • 3x Heavy Gun Parts
  • 5x Canister

This is a deliberately affordable recipe compared to the Hullcracker — Embark designed the Rascal as a budget anti-armor option you won't feel bad about losing. That said, the community feels the cost is steeper than expected for a single-shot launcher: the Hullcracker costs just one more Advanced Mechanical Component and one more Heavy Gun Part, while being significantly more powerful. The Rascal's real value is that you can find it in the wild — unlike the Hullcracker, which can only be crafted, bought for 30,000 credits daily, or looted from downed players.

Notable: this is the first blue-tier weapon that requires Heavy Gun Parts instead of medium gun parts, which caught many players off guard.

Is the Rascal Worth It?

The Rascal grenade launcher in ARC Raiders - compact anti-ARC sidearm

The Rascal isn't a Hullcracker replacement — it's a sidearm-weight explosive for Raiders who want anti-armor capability without dedicating a primary slot to a launcher. Here's what to expect:

Strengths

  • Lightweight — 4 lbs vs Hullcracker's 7 lbs
  • Can be found in the wild (Hullcracker cannot)
  • Faster draw/stow speed than Hullcracker
  • Effective against armored ARC (Bastions, Bombardiers)
  • Kills Shredders in 3 shots
  • Sells for $17,000
  • Extended Barrel mods available
  • Same ammo type as Hullcracker

Weaknesses

  • Single shot per chamber
  • Slow reload (upgrades help)
  • Inaccurate — lobs significantly beyond 14m
  • Only detonates on ARC (not surfaces or players)
  • Lower DPS and range than Hullcracker
  • Crafting cost feels high for a blue weapon

The Rascal shines as a backup explosive — bring it alongside your primary weapon for those moments when you stumble into a Bastion or need to crack ARC armor without burning through expensive Hullcracker ammo. Its fast draw/stow speed makes it ideal for the Safekeeping Augment playstyle: pull it out, fire, stow it, reload when safe.

For best results, aim at larger ARC targets under 14 meters where the projectile flies straight and the inaccuracy matters less. Bastions, Bombardiers, and Shredders are ideal. Beyond 14m the projectile starts to lob significantly, making it unreliable at range. Be aware that firing it in populated lobbies will draw attention — the explosion is loud and marks you as a target for PvP players.

Good luck on the hunt, Raiders.
